Welcome to Emma's Learning Adventure
I am Emma Allen an Ofsted rated Good registered childminder (see under additional information for link to full report). I also have a green RAG rating, completed through Norfolk Towards Excellent in the Early Years.
I have worked in childcare for many years including being an Au Pair in America, a Supervisor in a Nursery and I have also worked with young Autistic Adults.
I have sat on my local pre-school committee and have sat on the advisory board for the Local Children's Centre.
I took a career break when I had my twins, who in September 2012 started primary school.
I live in Tittleshall I drop off/collect from Beetley Pre-school and Primary school.
My opening hours are 7am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday. A minimum of 3 hours must be booked a week to guarantee a regular space, I also offer short term care - see E.L.A's extra hours for further information.
An average day in the house may consist of a calm time in the morning getting ready for school - quiet short activities will be offered such as stories, small world play, construction etc. A drive to school for any drop offs. Home for either some creative messy activities or some cooking as well as free play always being offered. Some mornings we will attend a local stay and play group. Lunch time and any pre-school collections, story time or a nap for children who sleep in the day. Some free play or some outdoors time including maybe a walk to the park. School pick up - school support such as homework help and a healthy snack after a busy day and some quiet relaxing time. Obviously days will vary and some days may involve full day outings and other days maybe quieter, these will be assessed and planned with the children for that day in mind. They can be adapted as needed, so if for example your child has had a very disturbed night we may not attend a morning stay and play group as they may require time to catch up on some sleep.
I like to offer a minimum of 2 settling sessions with each child and settling sessions are arranged on an individual basis to take into consideration the child and parents needs. These are taken at the child and parents own pace. Some children will require a few sessions for others 2 may be enough. No child will be rushed and if a child becomes overly distressed during a settling session I will contact the parents to come and spend some time at my house with their child so we can work together to develop strategies to help them enjoy their time with me and manage any separation anxiety. I am always only a phone call or text away if you would like to check your child has settled well.
My main aim is to treat your children in the same, kind manner I would treat my own. So a cuddle when one is needed some tickles just for fun and comfort if they have a bump (please ask to see my human contact policy for clarification). As a family we also have a Guinea Pig, Pirate see his own page under additional information. |
